AREOLA

Areola - Latin for the pigmented / dark area that surrounds the nipple.

Areola repigmentation, and / or nipple tattooing, is often the last step after breast reconstruction.

Correcting of size, shape and / or color
The size and shape of the areola are very variable -
both size (enlarging / reducing) and color can be adjusted by areola pigmentation.

Scar camouflage
All scars on the chest - white circle around the areola after breast reduction / enlargement as well as red / white scars below the breast, can often easily be camouflaged with BIOTEK pigmentation.

The client should avoid alcohol, aspirin, ibuprofen and other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) as well as certain supplements such as vitamin E for at least one week prior to the procedure.
Ingestion of the above may increase the risk of bleeding.

Make sure the client's wishes and expectations are mapped before the treatment.

Areola treatment is very seldom painful. Some have small nerves left in the tissue and some feel almost nothing.
Areola pigmentation is performed stepwise with approx. 3 weeks in between.
2-4 treatments are usually required.

It usually takes 7-10 days before excess color starts to go away.
Areola repigmentation is considered a permanent procedure, but will gradually bleache and maybe require a retouch after some years.

SCARS

RECONSTRUCTION AFTER DERMOGRAPHY

BIOTEK Para Medical pigmentation is also used to reconstruct lips and hide scars after e.g. lip / cleft palate.

It is common after eg. facelift that the scars become white. A skilled medical tattooist can camouflage a hypopigmented scar by implanting a skin-colored pigment directly onto the white of the scar.

VITILIGO / HYPOPIGMENTATION

Vitiligo is white spots on the skin due to loss or reduction of melanin in the skin. This pigment loss can be the result of trauma to the skin such as blisters, burns, dog bites, plastic and / or reconstructive surgery, removal of moles, skin cancer, etc.

A medical tattoo artist can camouflage hypopigmentation by implanting skin-colored pigment.

BIOTEK has a wide range of skin-colored pigments.

This is a simple procedure which usually gives satisfactory results.

However, it is important that the condition has been in the referral, it means stable for the past 2 years.
